The Haitian Revolution is important to the situation in which blacks at that time found themselves. It is appropriate that we recognize and celebrate such a significant achievement of an African people. The Haitian Revolution is the war to liberate our historical and cultural memory from the most vicious intellectual assault ever perpetrated on humankind. It is a war to free the African mind. It was also a struggle for self-determination against colonialism and imperialism. You would think that with the success in the Haitian Revolution that the defenders of Western civilization would acknowledge and recognized the effectiveness of the African centered campaign, but to begin with, they want the Africans to accept their definition of the African movement.
