I chose to compare and contrast the narrators of No Name Woman by Kingston, Jesus Christ’s Half-Brother Is Alive and Well by Alexie. These two characters/narrators stood out most in my mind when reflecting back on the Coming of Age experiences we’ve read about. I found a few similarities, and somewhat similarities (if you will).
Another reason I chose to compare these two is because the narrators made an impression on me. In one story you have a very immature, uneducated young man whose mind is constantly going to strange places. There is such a vivid description of things and the way he explains/describes things was completely new to me. In the other you have a young woman who’s trying to figure out and perhaps make sense of something she had just found out. The way her mind goes form one thought to another which is completely on the other end of the spectrum is very imaginative but also shows the desperation she was feeling to have given reason(s) to the new......
