The War Between The Women

The Civil War changed the lives of people throughout the United States of America. In the first half of the nineteenth century the country went through a remarkable economic change. The North and South were both prospering leading up to the Civil War. The economy grew in all of the states, but the Southern states failed to develop a commercial and industrial industry like the Northern states. The South valued their old traditions and was appalled by the capitalistic values of the North. Women’s lives both white and black were different in the North and South. Northern women were much better off than Southern women were. But white woman, in general no matter what state they lived in, had it better than black women all around. The lives of all women started to change as the war effort progressed. Although women of the Civil War dealt with devastating changes in their home lives, they handled the war situation in much of the same way throughout the country.
