The fight to become the top gambling location in Macau has moved to a new level. According to statement from Melco International Development, an underwater gambling casino with 450 gaming tables and 3,000 slot machines will open during 2008. The gambling casino “will be surrounded by water and marine life”, said the managing director.
The underwater casino will form part of a huge gaming and entertainment complex – the ‘City of Dreams’ – which will cost eight billion Hong Kong dollars to create.
The mega-billion gambling casino and resort will also feature deluxe apartment blocks, 2,000 hotel rooms, a shopping mall and a 4,000-seat performance hall. The gambling resort will be located on Macau’s Cotai strip, which is hoped to become Macau’s gambling answer to the Las Vegas Strip.
Macau is expected to outdo Las Vegas and become the world’s biggest gambling market in 2005, with the territory’s casinos projected to bring in more than $5bn in gambling......
