Black American Experience
During the American Revolution the recruitment of African American slaves helped with the defeat of the British. That’s why it was very important for the continental army to allow the recruitment of slaves to fight with the army, while some slaves took the British side. This was one of the biggest impacts during the war and how we live in America now.
African American slaves made up 1/5 of the population, in the southern colonies the slaves outnumbered the white aristocrats. In 1775 slavery was the main force of labor in the American South, and was still accepted in the north. In the Southern colonies slavery was a way of life to produce the agriculture to aristocrats and plantation owners needed to make them richer. Most of the Northern slaves unlike the southern slaves; they worked along side the whites in stores, in ship ports, or on farms.
