Gamer Symphony Orchestra
INTRODUCTION
The Gamer Symphony Orchestra (GSO) is an only orchestra with mission to establish music from video games as a legitimate music genre through performing concerts each semester. The GSO is lead by a student group of the University of Maryland College Park. Currently, the GSO is in great danger that they may not able to perform for spring 2009 semester due to lack of sufficient funding to pay for the expenses of new concert space, new rehearsal space, music, instrument rentals, and advertisings. The GSO is in need of $7,787.77 to perform for spring 2009 semester. (Chen, 09)
This year costs are much higher than the previous year costs because there was a 50 percent increase in club members. The GSO was founded in 2005 and it has been a free orchestra for both students and off-campus public (Chris). No dues from the members were collected since the GSO was established. In fact, the GSO did receive some donations from the audience that attend the concert.
