Many young men and women 18 through 20 join our military services to fight and/or die for our country. Some have earned medals for their bravery and their indisputable courage in the face of battle. These soldiers, willing to forfeit their lives, cannot even enjoy a simple drink. At the age of 18 you are considered a legal adult, therefore, the legal drinking age should be lowered in the United States
The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 required all states to raise their minimum purchase and public possession of alcohol to age 21. However, persons at the age of 18 can: drive automobiles, adopt, gamble, hunt, fly an airplane, purchase pornography, vote, go to prison, be executed, and serve in the United States military.
