A. From the BBC News Online article ‘MTV’s Irresistible Rise’, the author is attempting to convey what spurred the onset of a musical empire and how it came to prosper in America. The beginning of the article states how MTV emerged on August 1st, 1981 and how it blossomed in popularity. The company itself only received a small percentage of American viewership when it first aired and it seemed to snowball from word of mouth in the first few months. The station targeted young adults as their audience and the cutting edge way of marketing appealed to their taste. MTV became not only a new way to market the past, present and future musical material, it was at the same time promoting the up-and-coming artists, reality TV and adult animation. Not only that, it also became a very powerful cultural and political force, bringing minorities into the spotlight of the musical industry and by the same token, encouraging young viewers of age......
