Inhabited, and the most important is New Providence on which the capital, Nassau, is situated. Other Islands include Grand Bahamas, Abaco, Eleuthera, Andros, Cat Island and San Salvador (or Watlings Island).

The Government is a parliamentary Democracy, and the Current Government Officials are: Governor (Arthur Dion HANNA), Prime Minister (Hubert Ingraham), Dep. Prime Minister (Theodore Brent SYMONETTE), and ETC.

The land area is 3888 sq. mi and has a population of 307,451 as of 2008. The growth rate sits at 0.5%; birth rate 17.0/1000; infant mortality rate 23.6/1000; and life expectancy 65.7.
