It seems the more I look for ways of controlling my budget, managing my bank account, s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g my meagre income, the more I uncover perfectly legal, but morally questionable practices in all areas of our commercial society; practices that illustrate what callous, cynical, money-grabbing bastards our corporate and political policy-makers, (or maybe all of us), are; - a phrase keeps coming back to me;
It’s always the lowest paid that are the hardest hit.
Let me analyse that phrase somewhat;
The lowest paid are generally, either/or/and (and let’s be honest about this);
Poorly educated
Vulnerable
Disadvantaged
Deprived
Disaffected
And, (as John Humphreys, et al, would say), all the rest of it.
Poorly educated – they don’t know when they’re being ripped off
Vulnerable – they’re easily ripped off
Disadvantaged – they’ve no choice but to get ripped off
Deprived – they don’t have adequate......
