Anxiety is a normal reaction to everyday stresses. It helps a person to cope and deal with different kinds of tension. Tension from situations one might deal with at the office, tension from studying for a big test, and even tension from keeping focus on an important speech that is being prepared. When anxiety becomes excessive and an irrational dread of everyday situations, according to the National Institution of Mental Health, it may become a disabling disorder that may make it difficult to live out one’s everyday life.
An anxiety disorder is the most common kind of mental illness among adults in United States. The statistics from the Anxiety Disorders Association of America states that 40 million adults over the age of 18 in the United States are affected.
