Thermodynamic Aspects of Futuristic Air Travel
Executive summary
Thermodynamics of air travel in the status quo is dominated by one cycle in particular. The Brayton cycle is what is used in most commercial, private, and military air travel. Currently this cycle is almost exclusively dependant on fossil-fuel to provide the power necessary for takeoff. This dependence is economically and socially devastating. Society has decided that the thermodynamic devolvement for future air travel will put the environment first. There has been a call for change in the thermodynamics of flight, which has mainly affected the source of fuel for the cycle. However, bio-fuels are not as efficient as a fossil-fuel and other fuels that are proficient are not feasible in the foreseeable future. The thermodynamics of air travel is approaching the end of its current road and is going to need to branch out for other thermodynamic cycles that can provide a kind of flight that is more......
