Machiovelli, The Prince
The Prince is the main and important political treatise of Florentine public servant Niccolo Machiavelli. For a contemporary reader this work may seem to be a common knowledge; most of the authors’ discoveries are taken for granted now because they had found their use in the history of previous centuries. Originally named De Principatibus (About Principalities) it was finished in 1515 and published only in 1532.
Niccolo Machiavelli was born on May 3, 1469 in Florence, during Renaissance epoch. In his youth Florence was rules by Lorenzo de Medici, but after his death political instability started. At the age of 29 Niccolo became second chancellor of newly established Republic of Florence. But in 1512 Medici family regained control of Florence and Machiavelli was dismissed from his position.
