Bilingual education is the practice of teaching non-English speaking students in their native language. Bilingual education is a controversial issue in the field of education. Advocates of bilingual education believe that it’s important for students to continue to study in their native language while they are learning English. Opponents of bilingual education believe that exposing students to English is the best way to help them quickly learn English. I am in favor of bilingual education for three important reasons: it allows students to stay caught up in all subjects including English, it prevents students from forgetting their native language, and it encourages bilingualism.
