Riordan Manufacturing’s goal to increase the effectiveness of the manufacturing process and inventory control will be enhanced by installing an updated centralized database for all functions covering the manufacturing process. Database improvements will (a) reduce costly mistakes caused by incorrectly input information and (b) track received raw material, inventory usage and completed product shipping through the use of implementing a barcode system. With the addition of a barcode system, redundant entering of information will be eliminated, thus reducing labor costs.
