Instance #1: Pentecost
The recording of Pentecost and its immediate results are recorded in Acts 2:1-41, although its effect perpetuates throughout the rest of the New Testament, and to this day. Pentecost began in the upper room of a home in Jerusalem, where the disciples had been staying. A group of about 120 were there, including Peter, John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James, son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas, son of James. They honored the Lord’s command to “Not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised…”(Acts 1:4).
Pentecost is when God initially and powerfully poured out His Spirit, as promised, and all who were there were filled and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit enabled them. This group was ready and prepared to receive what God had for them. The days prior were marked with obedience, patience, and prayer as they faithfully awaited their promise.......
