make it evident that insanity exists in the world today. Even though both stories are good thrillers, while

reading “The Lottery” it is hard to grasp how a whole town can justify sacrificing a town member each year.

Although murder lies in both stories, the killer’s’ motives in “The Tell-Tale Heart” is driven simply by

annoyance. After reading both of these stories a reader can most definitely apply them to everyday life.

While most people enjoy living their lives carefree, one can never be too cautious as to where these types of

characters could be lurking.
