Yes, indeed, this film is really abstract! The techniques used in some, if not, most of all of these short films are very unconventional, and I think require a certain sense unconventional perspective to fully understand the meaning behind them (if there is one). In trying to discover an underlying theme, I got really confused and after thinking about it for quite some time, I could not find one single thing in common between any of the film clips aside from the fact that they are all about the same person, and often feature a piano-driven background music or music video style. This said, I would simply say the theme of this film is, “Glenn Gould is an eccentric man, therefore, he can justify making a highly eccentric non-linear film about himself”. I hate to have the theme be so specific, but really I see no connection between this film and society in any major way.
The film techniques in this film are actually very intriguing to me. Being somewhat of a filmmaker......
