Nights of Terror
Crack! Lightning flashes. The air sizzles and a pungent aroma billows past. Silver rain slants almost sideways, melting the ground as it hits the side of the steep hill that I stand on. The village below the mini-mountain hill is locking up, the usual parties at the tavern silent, visibility in the cobblestone streets is low. Candle-lights slowly are snuffed out throughout the city as if the villagers intend to sleep out the storm. The rain is pummeling everything so hard that it seems as if the buildings would crack in two.
As I watch the town gradually become fully eclipsed into Mother Nature’s wrath, I feel a tingling sensation crawl up the back of my spine. I close my eyes as if hypnotized and feel the earth around me with my other senses: the piercing sound of the howling wind screaming bad omens in my ear, the indomitable strength of the rock beneath my cold and steady hands, the indescribable......
