1. Introduction
Sport is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing industries in the modern world. The heritage of sporting events goes as far as 8th century BC when in 776 the First Olympic Games occurred (Masterman 2007). It is necessary to recognise this fact to get the real perspective of how long the industry exists. This report analyses the history, factors affecting the industry and its impacts on the 21st century world.

2. History and development:
Sport throughout the history has been a very important social and political factor (Holt 1990). What is now known as the modern sport has particularly grown in the late nineteenth and throughout the twentieth century when modern rules were introduced to most popular sports.
