A Never Ending War

The United States, as this paper is being written, fights the controversial War on Drugs, which is considered to have started in 1880, when the U.S. and China completed an agreement that prohibited the shipment of opium between the two countries. This war continues at large and does not look like it shall be solved any time soon (3). The current war is a business in which both the drug dealers and U.S. government agencies (The United States military and intelligence services, and local, state and federal law enforcement agencies (1) ) make money. The dealers make their income because of the huge profit margins on illicit drugs. Then they make their money legal by laundering it back into the system. The government agencies on the other make their revenue by fining dealers, and seizing drug affiliated property, and the drug war provides many U.S. citizens with jobs.
