Chemistry

The main pollutants, Nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide are all environmental problems for the atmosphere. Many of the pollutants are devired directly from car engines, they are called primary pollutants. There are many environmental problems associated from pollutants, for example carbon monoxide reduces the transport of oxygen in the blood, sulphur dioxide causes respiratory problems and carbon dioxide causes changes to the environment. Furthermore photochemical smog causes respiratory problems and irritations. Engine types are different as ratio of fuel to air differs.
NOx is formed when nitrogen and oxygen from the air react under high temperatures. Furthermore carbon monoxide (CO) is formed from the incomplete combustion, where not enough oxygen is present. Also unburnt fuel in the car produces hydrocarbons. Even if enough oxygen is provided complete combustion of fuel still gives water and carbon dioxide which are pollutants, even though water is recycled......
