A Policy Of Preemption:
On September 11th, 2001, the United States was deliberately attack by terrorists who manage to destroy two of the most important buildings in the country and kill thousands of its citizens. This event alone changed the way the world looked at terrorism and as a result there was sudden shift in the view of the west as to who was the greatest threat to their states and citizens. Although other terrorist attacks had taken place in the past, this was the first to cause a significant amount of damage to the leading economic and military power in the world. This demonstrated that there was no where in the world that anyone could be completely safe. Due to this fact, the US began focusing on how to dismantle terrorist sects. However, although the initial operation in Afghanistan was a success, it is now the year 2005 and the US are now in Iraq with little of the rest of the world behind them, losing a war against terrorism.
