I personally find movies depicting wartime to be dull and overly dramatic. How many times have we seen the underdog small town boy being sent to fight for his country and in doing so he finds himself. We see how a brave and courageous are American soldiers are while are enemies are conniving and manipulative. We win they lose, were righteous and there deplorable, good guy versus bad guy. It’s been done over and over. Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence and The Battles of Allgeries are both centered around war yet they not focused on winning and losing rather the break down of the psychological, emotional, and humanistic aspect of war. Both films are mostly neutral because in reality there’s never a winner or loser during war everyone loses.
