Damming The Mekong
Vietnam is a country located in the south-east region of Asia. It boarders the South China Sea to the east and to the west and north it boarders: China, Laos, & Cambodia. With a variety of different terrains, the country covers approximately 330000 square kilometres and is home to just over 86 million people.
This report is composed to provide information and a general look into the damming of the Mekong River. Information in this report consists of current uses and users of the river, positive and negative impacts that may affect the regions and a more detailed look into the earlier mentioned impacts.
Currently the Mekong River is used by several countries, including China, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Burma.
China being at the source of the river is conscious that other countries are dependent upon the source and that any development towards poorer regions that may benefit the area will pollute the river’s purity.
