John F. Kennedy was the 35th president of the United States. He served form 1961 until his assassination in 1963. He was born in Brookline, Massachusetts to Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald. Kennedy attended the Naval Reserve Officers Training School before being assigned for duty in Panama and the Pacific theater. During that time of World War II, Kennedy received the Purple Heart, and the World War II Victory Medal. Just a few months before Japan surrendered, Kennedy was honorable discharged in early 1945.Before taking the presidential position; Kennedy was a U.S. Senator for Massachusetts. John F. Kennedy declared his intent to run for President of the United States in 1960.The Democratic Party nominated Kennedy as its candidate for President in July 13, 1960. He asked Lyndon B.
