General Purpose: to persuade
Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience athletes no to use drugs in sports.
Thesis: Today I am going to inform you on two of the most common performance enhancing
drugs and their unfair advantages.
Organizational Pattern: Motivated Sequence
Audience Analysis:
• Age: The audience is made up of mostly 18-21 yr. olds. According to the White House Drug Policy, the average age people begin to experiment with drugs and sports is high school and college.
• Gender: This group has about the same amount of males and females. Men are more likely to use drugs in sports, however, women do to.
• Athletes: This speech is geared more towards athletes, but it would also be helpful to the non- athletes would might use the drugs for recreational use.
• Prior Knowledge: Mostly everyone has a general idea as to what steroids are. However, most students or athletes do not know the things......
