Blood Diamond is a film about civilisation’s greed for diamonds. Obtained at any cost so as to be sold at an even higher price to the developed world, this has wreaked havoc on parts of Africa from where it is sourced, spinning there an insidious web of theft, pettiness, mindless crime, kidnapping, unspeakable cruelty, mass killing in the name of civil war, child abuse in the name of revolution, slave labour and gun toting trigger happy ‘liberators’ who unleash unmitigated violence on innocence and nature. Caught in the havoc, contributing to its creation and profiting from it, too, is …Archer………….a diamond smuggling white loner rendered homeless in the middle of Africa. Dragged into the conflict is a black native……….. who could be rendered homeless, too, in his homeland if he does not wage an equally unrelenting and desperate fight to keep his family together How the two come together, how their lives intertwine and touch each other and how they separate......
