Dorian Gray
In Oscar Wilde’s book, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Wilde characterizes his theory of age as being connected to both good and evil while sin comes across as being able to mend itself. Through bitter imagery, readers are able to see how Dorian Gray suddenly distastes his youthfulness after enjoying it for so long. “ Why should he watch the hideous corruption of his soul? He kept his youth--that was enough. And, besides, might not his nature grow finer, after all?”(Wilde 118). This quote shows how Dorian realizes his soul is completely corrupted, but the one thing that makes him feel better about that is that he still has his youth. At first, when Dorian makes the deal to keep his youth, it seems great. But as time goes on he just becomes a beautiful person who is completely empty, while the painting is full of his corrupted soul. The painting and Dorian Gray confuse the boundaries of life and art. Dorian becomes like a piece of art, never growing old, always staying beautiful.......
