The Origins of the Cold War

1. Political Views: The Cold War was mainly between the two superpowers Russia which was communist and United States which was democratic and industrial capitalist. America feared a revolution from economic and political principles so critically different and manipulated American public opinion to fear communism. The ‘Trueman Doctrine (1947)’ announced aid to Greece and Turkey in the stated context of a general war against communism. NATO- the Western Union in March was created with the sole aim of protecting Europe from Soviet aggression and the United States would indeed honor its commitment to defend Europe.
2. Control of Germany: After World War Two and Germany surrendered. England, Russia and the United States discussed their intentions for Germany. The Soviet Union, as to be expected, wanted to rebuild their near-destroyed economy using German industry. The United States feared it would help rebuild the Soviet Union through Germany.......
