Introduction

I. (attention-getting) Samantha Coons was a 40 year old woman when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. By the age of 44 she was considered terminally ill with disseminated breast cancer. Luckily for her, she lived in the Netherlands where Physician Assisted Suicide or PAS is of legal practice. Upon diagnosis, her doctor approached her with the option of ending her life to avoid any further suffering and shorten the dying process. Samantha turned down his offer, ready to carry out her life until her natural death. A few days later, her physician gave her an extremely high dose of painkillers intentionally inducing her death. When interviewed the physician, who remains nameless, said "It could have taken another week before she died and I just needed this bed."
II. (audience relation) If Physician Assisted Suicide were to be legalized in the United States this situation could happen to any patient who a doctor finds not to be of sound mind without any repercussions......
