7. Introduction

An introduction should first briefly discuss the background of the research, i.e. current situation of the business and the problems need to be dealt with. Then, it should discuss in brief the rationale behind this research, the hypothesis, and the objectives of the research. There should be some difference between the discussions of the research and the project. The discussion should be more than the project itself, extending to the discussion of whether the design of the project is appropriate. So the rationale should include academic research methods, not only business research methods. The objectives should include not only the project’s objectives, but also the objectives of the research, such as to find out appropriate ways for staff training courses.
