Gurth the Hero Was Ivanhoe the one and only true hero? He may seem to be, however many people over look Gurth, who may seem to be a nobody, but is a very significant character. Gurth was a man who showed extreme courage and chivalry to obtain his freedom. I will explain why Gurth was a hero in my eyes, and some of the heroic challenges he accomplished. Gurth was a tall and lanky fellow who wore a brass collar, which denotes he is a serf to Cedric, and all he dreams of is to one day have his freedom. Gurth is also a very quiet fellowwho just serves his master and stays to himself. He was very courageous in that he left his master and went into disguise for Ivanhoe. He went along to the tournament and acted as his squire. Gurth then showed his willingness to reach his goal of freedom by helping orchestrate a plan to attack Fort Torqulstone. This was a very bold and dangerous move by Gurth, but if accomplished could very well help him obtain his freedom he has been longing for. This......
