Upon reading Ernest Hemingway novel In Our Time and viewing the Impressionists painting at the National Gallery there are vast differences and some similarly to these different art forms. Ernest Hemingway was not an Impressionist writer but this novel was written with a similar style. Impressionist painting can present fragmented, and these short stories only gave the reader a piece of the whole story, more like a variety of different moments happening at the same time. I have selected a painting by Childe Hassam entitled Allies Day, May 1917 is part of a series of paintings. This painting reflects the sprit of true impressionism. Even though these works are different in form one can still see how their similarities allow for the same level of participation by its audiences. This paper will draw on their differences and similarities, as well as a reflection of their realism and truth.......
