Water is an integral part of life on planet earth, in fact the earth consists of 75% of water. The human body is also made up of 80% water but what is it and why is it so special?

All life on the planet, human, animal and plants cells need it to survive. We depend on it in our everyday lives, we drink it, we cook with it, we bathe in it. Who would have thought that a simple molecule like H20

Water is a polar molecule. This is due to its ability to bond with the hydrogen atoms in the water. The hydrogen bonds create unique properties that can only be associated with water. For example, water has high heat of vaporization, strong surface tension, and is a great solvent and often called the “Universal solvent”

Due to waters extensive hydrogen bonding between molecules it has the second highest heat capacity of any known chemical compound. This in turn gives water a high heat of vaporization which serves to buffer the internal......
