Youth gangs is a very rapidly increasing problem in Canada. It has been increasing by a vast amount in the past couple of years. People join youth gangs due to three main factors, to feel a sense of belonging in the community, to create an image of power or strength, to solve or help financial issues. Street gangs identify themselves as such through the adoption of a gang name, common brands, styles, colours of clothing and/or jewellery, and tattoos to openly display gang membership to other gangs. Youth gangs have had a huge impact on Canadian society and they are formed for profit-driven criminal activity. Youth gangs have increased in numbers in peel vastly. There have been many cases and situations that have caused youth gangs and gang activity.
