Socialism

Original Source/Context: Socialism is a system or group living in which there is no private property system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state for the benefit of the people. Socialism arose from the Industrial Revolution in the early 1800s. Under capitalism workers’ incentive is getting paid, the problem with this is that capitalist tend to hold wages as low as possible, thus keeping workers in poverty and misery. Socialists believe that a profit motive has a degrading effect on men and that it produces selfish rivalry among capitalist. Socialists maintain that workers should be assured a comfortable living, and then they can be inspired by other incentives like higher rank and the respect given for worthy achievement.
