The Roman Empire
The Roman Empire it is a very complex and problematic civilization to describe and critique because of the immense history and personalities behind all those centuries that support the empire. The mythology of Rome says it was founded in 753 B.C.E by Romulus and Remus who were descendants of Aeneas, a vanquished great warrior and Trojan Hero. By the 2nd century AD Rome was at it’s height with a population of about 60 million people spread across 5 million square kilometers. The great Mediterranean sea was like an internal lake for them, the empire totally encircle it from northern England to the plains of North African coast and the luxuriant gash of the Nile valley in Egypt, referred to by its conquerors as mare nostrum ‘our sea.’
