Application Project 2: THEORETICAL ANALYSIS – Strain Theory

Use Merton’s strain theory to interpret (analyze) the popularity of some specific illegal drug (i.e. marijuana, ecstasy, crack, cocaine, etc.) OR to interpret (analyze) some social problem or type of deviant behavior.

1. The analysis should be a minimum of 600 words not including your discussion of the theory.

2. You need to use your text as a source or a legitimate internet source on the theory in order to facilitate your discussion. Properly cite your source in the text, and include a full citation of your source at the end of your discussion.

3. Remember to be clear about what aspect of Strain Theory you are using. This means you must discuss the theory and discuss what aspect you are using and discuss why this theory is an appropriate tool to use to analyze your issue.
