Frederick Winslow Taylor The Man Behind the Theory
Frederick Winslow Taylor was an American mechanical engineer who sought to improve industrial efficiency. A management consultant in his later years, he is sometimes called "the father of scientific management." Taylor was born on March 20, 1856 to a wealthy Quaker family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. (WIKIPEDIA) His father, a Princeton graduate and lawyer, made enough money from mortgages and did not have to keep a regular job. His mother was a spirited abolitionist and feminist who was said to have run an Underground Railroad station for runaway slaves. (Papesh)
