Professor Joseph Berenguel English 1010-Section 36 4 November 2008 College Students Would Benefit From Interdisciplinary Writing Classes In elementary school children are taught to write to express their feelings, beliefs, and opinions. In kindergarten show-and-tell and story telling teach children to organize their thoughts. Soon students learn to write short essays through the use of journals, poetry, and small writing prompts. They are then taught how to write an essay, and eventually a research paper. Throughout much of public schooling all students are herded through the same types of writing assignments. However, upon reaching college, or perhaps some high school courses, students are taught to write in ways that will support and aid them in their major at college, and future career.
