Aristotle the pragmatist develops his topics keenly so that anyone can achieve them, whereas, Plato’s ideals are often so lofty that they are of no functional use. Plato believes that character is something that is formed through early childhood education, and once educated if possible one may become a philosopher apart from society. The Republic however, does not treat ethics as a separate subject matter or give explanations of pleasure, the nature of happiness, virtue, and friendship.
