The first article I read was Kempadoo’s writing about Globalizing Sex Workers Rights, it provided an in depth look at the rights women around the world were fighting for that would legitimize their sexual acts as work. When Kamala heard about protests occurring in Suriname she decided to visit the area to better understand what exactly the reasoning behind such a demand was. Believing that they used their body and skills just like any other job employee, sex workers wanted the public to realize that their line of work was just as legitimate as any other. This statement caught me off guard because of how we as Americans view sex and an intimate and private part of our lives, not one shared with many, let alone for money. Since I was younger I have always thought of prostitutes as women who made bad choices in life and also people who were dirty, and when I read the article and it explained how many taboos exist around women who do sell their bodies, I......
