These two insects share several characteristics; which include an exoskeleton, three main body parts (head, thorax, and abdomen), and antennas. The insect world also has differences. A termite’s diet usually feeds upon dead plant material such as wood, leaf litter, soil, animal dung, or crops. A butterfly usually sips liquid food through a tube-like proboscis, such as from rotting fruits and some butterflies prefer animal flesh or fluids. One other difference between these two species of insects is that termites are usually perceived as pests, as its caused much damage to buildings, crops, and plantation forests, yet butterflies are pleasant and attractive to the eye.
