Edgar Allen Poe was born on January 19, 1909. Poe was the youngest son to Elizabeth Arnold Poe and David Poe. Both Edgar Allen Poe’s parents were young actors his father departed early on during Poe’s life and his mother died at the young age of 26 while on tour in Richmond. Poe was only two years old at the time. Edgar Allen Poe was then cared for by the Allan’s; the family took care of Poe for the next 22 years.
Poe was just like family to the Allan’s, although he was never legally adopted by the Allan’s. They provided Edgar Allen Poe with the best education during their time in England. Tension grew between Poe and his father John Allan because of the compassion his wife showed Poe.
By the mid 1800’s Edgar Allen Poe threw in his cards and left Richmond and went to Boston. Poe gained the opportunity to publish his first collection,......
