Age Limits in Sports

Outside of your typical retail or restaurant jobs, you rarely see age requirements on a job listing. Instead, you will normally find a certain level of experience the employer would like you to have rather than how old he would like you to be. It is extremely rare in this day in age for someone not to be considered for a job strictly based on his or her age.
In the NBA, however, this is not the case. The NBA has age restrictions that keep young men from even gaining a chance to try out for their league. Like the NBA, the NFL has an age requirement for its players. However, football players need those years in college in order to gain muscle and weight to prepare for the physical demands of the NFL. Very few players, especially those in the trenches, make big impacts in their true freshmen years. Of course, there are those like Adrian Peterson and Brady Quinn who come along every once in a while, but for the most part, high school players aren't ready......
