Kinetics

• The rate of a chemical reaction is the change in the concentration of reactants or products over time. The rate is not constant but varies continuously.
• The rate law expresses the relationship of the ragte of a reaction to the rate constant and the concentration of the raeactants raised to approprae powers. The rate constant K for a given reaction changes only with temperate.
• Reaction order is the power to which the concentration of a given reactant is raised in the rate law. Overall reaction order is the sum of the pwers in which reactant concentration are raised in the rate law. The rate law and reaction order cannot be determined from the stoichiometry of the overall equation for a reaction; they must be determined by experiment. For a zero order reaction the reaction rate Is equal to the rate constant.
• The half life of a reaction( the time it takes for the concentration of a reactant to decrease by one half) can be used to determine the rate......
