In the next few months many high school students will be getting ready for the band and choir trip in June, they will be performing at Disney, and the cost will be $600. Not only is the band trip coming up, but also graduation, and senior class trip.
Due to the struggling economy and the recession many people have lost jobs and benefits such as health insurance. For many families it has become a daily struggle to provide the basic necessities to survive. In light of this, I feel the planned Florida trip in June will place more of a financial burden on many parents and guardians, along with the extra expenses of the senior class trip and graduation parties.
In October 2008, the unemployment rate was at 5.3%, for Burnett County, it climbed 1.6% to 6.9% in November, according to Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
