To Clone or Not to Clone?
What if you were losing a loved one or someone you knew needed an organ transplant? What if someone you loved could never walk again? What would you do if you knew that you would never be able to have children? Human cloning just might be a solution to all these problems.
In the article “Human Cloning? Don’t Just Say No” Ruth Macklin, who teaches courses in bioethics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, talks about reasons why some people are opposed to cloning, and also about people who benefit from it. In Macklin’s article she explains that one of the reasons most people oppose human cloning is they are worried about a person’s dignity being violated, or even their identity being taken.
