Tourette’s Syndrome

Have you ever been sitting down or sleeping and all of a sudden have a twitch or muscle spasm? Isn’t that an embarrassing thing especially if you’re in class or in front of a multitude of people? You know that you won’t ever let that happen again. Well, imagine being one of those people who can’t control their actions or their words. With them, their muscle spasms or outbursts will keep happening again and again as much as they don’t want it to. There are about 100,000 people in the United States with this problem and all they can do about it is live it out.

In 1885 a French physician named Georges Albert Eduard Brutus Gilles de la Tourette discovered a rare disorder on an eighty six year old woman. The disorder originally became known as Gilles de Tourette, which today is known as Tourettes Syndrome, or TS.
